  • The 2-Piece Set Bonus for PvP trinkets increases Versatility by 40% in PvP
  • Honor Gear upgrades are capped by Renown
  • Conquest Gear upgrades are capped by Ranked PvP Rating

PvP Trinket 2-Piece Set Bonus

The first things you should buy if you plan on playing PvP in Shadowlands are a Gladiator’s Medallion and a Gladiator’s Emblem. These two Trinkets’ set bonus will increase your Versatility by 40% in PvP. While there is no specific PvP stat in Shadowlands, all PvP gear has a lot of Versatility specifically to benefit from this set bonus.

The 2-Piece Set Bonus for PvP increase Versatility by 40%

There are three trinkets that count as Medallions and three that count as Emblems. Your Medallion focuses on incoming Crowd Controls (CCs). You can choose to reduce all incoming CCs by 20%, break out of any CC that is over a 5 second duration every 1 minutes, or choose to break out of a specific CC every 2 minutes. Your Emblem gives you additional stats. You can choose from an On Use primary stat buff, a passive primary stat buff, or an On Use health increase.

Honor PvP Gear

Honor gear is the entry level tier of PvP gear. It should be your first goal once you cap 60 and are looking to get into PvP. Honor gear can be skipped if you have great PvE gear, but remember that you will be missing a large amount of the Versatility that PvP gear offers. It might still be worth wearing even if it is lower item level.

Buying and Upgrading Honor PvP Gear

Honor Gear is purchased from Purveyor Zo’Kuul at The Enclave in Oribos near the capitol city portals. Honor gear starts at ilvl 158, but can be upgraded using more Honor. The amount you can upgrade Honor gear is dependent on your current Covenant Renown level. To upgrade a piece of gear, talk with Aggressor Zo’dash in the same room. The amount of Honor needed to purchase and upgrade gear is dependent on the slot.

Conquest PvP Gear

Conquest gear is the high level PvP gear. These are the pieces you should be striving for in every slot. They are much more difficult to earn. When in PvP content, Conquest gear will almost always outperform PvE gear.

Buying and Upgrading Conquest PvP Gear

Conquest gear is purchased from Zo’sorg at The Enclave in Oribos near the capitol city portals. Conquest gear starts at ilvl 200, but can be upgraded using Honor. The amount you can upgrade a Conquest piece of gear is dependent on your current highest ranked PvP rating in 2v2, 3v3, or RBGs. To upgrade a piece of gear, talk with Aggressor Zo’dash in the same room. The amount of currency needed to purchase and upgrade gear is dependent on the slot.

Earning Honor and Conquest

Honor and Conquest are earned from most forms of PvP. The amount of Conquest points you can earn is capped based on how many weeks into the season it is, increasing by 550 every week. You can see your current progress toward the Conquest cap in “Player vs. Player” tab of the Group Finder. The amount of Honor you can earn is not capped, but you can only have at most 15,000 at any time. Conquest points are generally awarded only for wins. Honor is awarded for losses, but more is awarded for wins. You can see how much Honor and Conquest points you have in your Currency tab.

When starting out, Battlegrounds will be the best way to earn Honor and Conquest. Every day you get an extra amount of Honor and Conquest for your first win in Epic Battlegrounds and your first win in normal Battlegrounds. There will also be a separate reward for your first win in the active Brawl, when they are up. Subsequent wins in Battlegrounds will still earn you Honor and Conquest, but not as much as your daily win. You can queue for Battlegrounds on the “Player vs. Player” tab of the Group Finder.

Once you have some gear and experience, the best way to earn Honor and Conquest is to jump into Arenas. Skirmishes will match you up with random players in 2v2 or 3v3 fight (healers always get 3v3). While Skirmishes don’t award a large amount of Honor or Conquest, they are often over quick, leading to more currency over time. If you can find a friend to play with, or a partner from the PvP section of LFG, you can queue for Rated Arenas. Rated Arenas will be more likely than Skirmishes to match you up against people of your skill rating.

You can also participate in Rated Battlegrounds (RBGs). Many groups will be posting in LFG as “YOLO,” meaning they won’t be taking it as seriously as organized groups would be, though even these groups can be quite stringent in their requirements. Similar to other types of LFG, your likelihood of getting a group will often be tied to your item level. Some groups will also expect a minimum rating in RBGs. If you are having trouble finding a group, make your own and set your own requirements.

Finally, there are World Quests that can be completed for Honor and Conquest points when playing in War Mode. Killing other players in the open world will also reward you a small amount of Honor. The achievements associated with War Mode in Shadowlands can earn you an exclusive title and mount.
