Classic Campaign – Mission 20A: Wings of Victory! (Andy)

Mountains and misunderstandings stand between Andy and Eagle’s forces.

Mission Strategy

For all of the Green Earth maps, you will be able to choose between all three of the Orange Star COs. Each CO has an entirely different map. Unlike the original game, you do not need to do certain missions as certain COs to unlock Drake and Eagle. Both Green Earth COs are unlocked by beating the missions with any CO.

This mission is against Eagle, the air unit specialist. His air units all deal increased damage and use less fuel per day, keeping them in the air longer. His naval units are weak, but this weakness never matters in the maps you face Eagle in since he never has sea units.

Eagle’s CO Power is one of the strongest in the game, giving all of his non-troop units an additional turn. However, during this extra turn, his units deal less damage and take increased damage. These debuffs continue into his opponents next turn, since his CO Power is still considered active then.

This mission lends itself to air dominance. Ground forces have a long hike through the central Woods to make it to the other side. But air units have free reign, and can even use the Mountains to hide if needed.

Eagle will leave two of his Bombers in place until they can attack one of your units. Try not to trigger them right before Eagle’s CO Power if you can avoid it.

  • Power Goal: 2 or More
  • Technique Goal: 3 or Fewer

HQ Capture: With a Transport Copter at your disposal and no ground forces posted near the enemy HQ, a sneaky capture is definitely possible. The only units you will need to worry about are Eagle’s Fighters.

The AI loves to target Transport Copters, and his Fighters will go right for yours if they can. Remember that you can use your other units, even ground forces, to surround your Transport Copter and keep it safe.

Once you deal with Eagle’s Fighters, your next target are his Bombers. Once you take out his stationary north and south Bomber, the HQ should be wide open for a Transport Copter drop.

Defeat All Enemies: Like usual with Eagle, his Bombers and Fighters are the biggest threat. He will rush you with both Fighters and one Bomber. You can start advancing your ground forces, but keep your air units back until the Fighters are dealt with.

Once you clear his Fighters, use your own Fighters to clear out the stationary Bombers before your ground forces come within range.

Slowly move your ground forces through the center of the map, keeping your units topped off as needed. As long as you keep your tanks up front with Rockets behind, the fight should not be too difficult. Push your Infantry and Mechs over the Mountains to capture Cities for healing if you need it. Andy’s CO Power will also help keep you topped off.
