AW2 Classic Campaign – Mission 5: Lash Out

Enemies at sea. Enemies on Land. Outwit them all and capture the HQ!

Mission Strategy

This is your first fight against the Black Hole CO Lash. She is a terrain specialist who gets bonuses to attack based on terrain defense. Every star of defense will add +10% attack to her units. During Lash’s CO Power, her units will be able to move through any terrain (other than Olaf’s snow) with no movement penalty. Her super CO Power doubles the defense bonus of terrain, meaning that her units will also gain increased attack from terrain too.

This map incentivizes Sami’s strength, capturing HQ’s. You only have 7 days to win. If you don’t capture the enemy HQ or destroy every enemy before then, you will lose. Since it will be tough to clear out every enemy in that short amount of time, it is best to go for an HQ capture using your Transport Copter or Lander.

Technique Goal: 2 or Fewer

HQ Capture: This is the best way to approach this mission. You have three choices on moving your Mech or Infantry to the HQ: an APC on land, a Transport Copter in the air, and a Lander at sea.

The only threat to your capturer is the enemy Anti-Air. The safest way to approach this fight is to wait for the enemy Anti-Air to move past the HQ, then drop a Mech or Infantry with your Lander or Transport Copter to capture it. You can also push along the road, but this will take longer.

Remember too that Sami now has her Super CO Power, allowing her Infantry and Mechs to capture properties in a single turn, no matter how much health they have. If you can keep a Mech or Infantry alive for a single enemy turn after dropping them, you can capture the HQ with Sami’s Super CO Power.

Sami’s Super CO Power takes a lot to charge up. Remember that CO Powers charge based on the value of the damage done. Your naval units cost a lot, and damage done to them will quickly charge your CO Power.
