The Molecular Analysis Machine (MAM) allows you to research items, buildings, and alternate recipes not included in Milestones.
It can be considered a secondary research path, with main research being completed through Milestones. Most MAM research does not require specific Space Elevator Phases or Milestones, though some will require the use of buildings unlocked through those systems.
Building the MAM
The MAM is unlocked by completing the Tier 1 Milestone “Field Research.” Once unlocked, you can find it in the Special tab of the Builder. It requires the following items to build:
- 5 Reinforced Iron Plate
- 15 Cable
- 45 Wire
Using the MAM
The MAM has two major functions. The first is scanning Hard Drives that you find around the world to unlock Alternate Recipes. The second is to research materials found in the world to unlock items and buildings associated with:
- Alien Protein (Drops from Enemies)
- Caterium
- Mycelia
- Nutrients (Edible Plants)
- Power Slugs
- Quartz
- Sulphur
MAM Research is broken up into a tree for each of these categories. To unlock research later in the tree, you will need to research the items that are connected to it higher up the tree first.
Unlike Milestones, you must submit all of the required items at once. Select the research you want to complete with the required items in your inventory and press “Research.” There is a very short cooldown before you can research something new
